Thank for the suggestions!

I was not having issues with address boook with office communicator 2007, but when I upgraded to office communicator 2007 R2 (both with OCS 2007 R2), I started getting the popup to authenticate so I could get the address book. What ever combination off domain\username or username@domain.com and password I used, it would just pop back up. I did the test of downloading a file and noticed that it had the domain already in the authentication dialog of my connection to the server, so I tried just username and password, without the domain, and it worked. Next I tried it on the communicator dialog box, and it worked. goofy! Now I have to figure out how to get the domain info to work with it as well.

The server is 2008 R2 (all 2008 R2 are 64 bit).

Thanks, the SPN List command revealed the http/old_server.fqdn name from the last install that went wrong on a different server. Clearly the reinstall doesnt bother fixing or adding the new server name to this.

I ran through all of the steps in UCNoEvil's documentation. I did have an issue with the Address Book URL that I must have set up incorrectly during the initial install. After fixing that problem through the WMI editor, I was still having problems. I made the changes you suggested, and sure enough, it worked! I had to restart the Communicator Services and the LSGroupExpAppPool though before it worked for me though.

Thanks for the SPN tip for communicator. I found a bunch of different answers while searching and none of them sounded right.
